#ChaseRUNS: 24 hours for the kids of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Chase Snider post race with Christie Snider

Getting a little stir crazy with the coronavirus quarantine? Yeah, me too.

So when my friend and childhood cancer survivor Isaac Long asked me about joining him for a slightly-crazy running challenge (from a CDC-approved distance, of course) you know I couldn’t say no. My friend and fitness mentor Cody Stepp also stepped up to the challenge and decided to join the effort as well

I have taken on crazy running endeavors before (you might remember the 648 consecutive days of #ChaseRUNS that involved everything from running in cowboy boots thru downtown to Nashville to getting stopped by the Secret Service) but never one with such a small time-box.

24 hours. Just over 4 Miles. Every 4 Hours.

When it’s all said and done we will each have run a marathon’s worth of mileage on the streets of our Springfield neighborhoods, all while respecting physical distancing guidance.

It’s important to me because a marathon in Nashville next month, one of my favorite events to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, was canceled because of the coronavirus outbreak. This will allow me to raise awareness for the incredible organization while also pushing myself to overcome a new physical and mental challenge.

It is also important to me because I think it shows that while we may all be enduring trying times we still have the ability to achieve literally anything if we define our intentions and drive forward with determination.

I invite you join us in our journey tomorrow by running along from your own location (schedule below) or just sending some words of encouragement to Isaac, Cody and myself using #ChaseRUNS on social media.

If you are able, you can also contribute to the lifesaving mission of finding cures and saving children by donating to my fundraiser here.

See ya at the (virtual) finish line!

Chase
